Lindsay’s 40 Over 40 Story: Celebrating New Beginnings and Embracing Confidence

At Grace in Lace Boudoir, we want the world to know that ALL bodies are worth celebrating—at every size, shape, and age. That’s why we started our first-ever 40 Over 40 Boudoir Movement: An empowering project where we invite 40 women over the age of 40 to come into our studio so we can capture their beauty and share their stories, proving that beauty has no age limit and boudoir has no bounds!

Today, we’re honored to share the inspiring story of Lindsay K, one of the incredible women who joined us for our 40 Over 40 experience here at Grace in Lace Boudoir. Her story is a testament to the power of boudoir—how it can change the way you see yourself and leave you feeling more confident, radiant, and empowered than ever before!

When Lindsay first reached out, she had just made a huge life change—she’d packed up her whole life and moved over 1,800 miles across the country. “Starting over and moving out of the city I lived in my whole life is kind of a big deal. Why not mark the occasion in a big way?”

Of course, before the session, Lindsay had all the usual feelings—nervous, excited, a little anxious. (Honestly, that’s totally normal! We hear it from nearly every client.) But once she arrived, it didn’t take long for her to settle in.

“I had so much fun! Everyone was so welcoming,” she said. “It didn’t take much time at all for me to warm up and feel at ease—which really isn’t typical for me. The whole team made me feel comfortable being myself and in my own skin.”

We asked Lindsay how she felt when she saw her images for the first time:

“Amazed... I honestly don’t have issues with self-esteem in general, but I never really viewed myself through the “seductive, sexy, hot” lens... My ego needed checked! Everyone has their moments where they feel “less than” on occasion, but seeing my photos really gave me a reality check. The camera doesn’t lie!”

That’s the power of boudoir! It’s about so much more than just the photos—it’s about rediscovering parts of yourself that you might not have seen in a while. It’s your chance to honor yourself in this moment of your journey—not the version of you from years ago, not the version you think you should be, but the radiant, powerful, beautiful woman you are right now!

Here’s what Lindsay said after her session:

“It really changed my perspective of myself at 42. I honestly had a really hard time when I turned 40. I loved being pampered for the day and investing in myself. I had a blast with the team and loved the VIP treatment. Everyone was so fun and was great at making me feel comfortable with being my weird self.”

We asked Lindsay what she’d say to other women over 40 who might be thinking about joining the movement:

“Do it! I’ve already told a couple of my friends about it—and you better believe I sent them to Grace in Lace. I hope they invest in themselves, because they deserve it.”
